Visualising the impact of research is key to communicating complex outcomes clearly and convincingly. These impact case study infographics were designed by Intrepid Design in collaboration with academics at the University of Reading, as part of a REF 2021 case study submission.
Impact case studies demonstrate how research delivers real world benefits beyond academia. The clearer and more effectively this impact is communicated, the stronger its contribution to REF performance, funding outcomes and institutional ranking.
The infographics were designed to help present these relationships visually, allowing complex impact narratives to be understood quickly and with confidence.
A critical factor in the design process was the format of the final submission document. With submissions restricted to a rigid A4 template and a finite number of pages, the infographics needed to remain clear, legible and effective at actual size, ensuring impact could be communicated without compromise.
